Chinese ANPR Systems

Chinese ANPR Systems

The uses of Chinese ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) are many and it is already proving a popular system with police and private contractors to catch and even prosecute. It also has a number of practical uses including the ability to ease congestion and monitor journey times.

titanHz Chinese ANPR or also known as Chinese ALPR is an innovative Chinese ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) for traffic surveillance, toll collection, traffic management, enforcement parking and many other projects where accuracy, speed and automation are essential objectives. Due to its outstanding technology, its high accuracy rate, the speed of image processing and its adaptability, titanHz Chinese ANPR technology (Automatic Number Plate Recognition System) is among the best of its class. With its advanced character recognition not only does it capability of reading Latin characters, the Chinese ANPR engine (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) can read Chinese, Cyrillic (and with special training any other types of) number plates as well. The Chinese ANPR software (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) can execute continuous license plate reading even at vehicle speeds of up to 150mph. This feature is especially important in convicting speed limit violators or for use in automatic toll collection projects, just to mention a few.

How Chinese ANPR Works
Chinese ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) uses OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to identify the numbers and letters on a number plate. These are then usually stored in a central database and as long as the cameras themselves are set up for Chinese ANPR Systems (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) they can be used to cover a surprisingly large amount of space. Two cameras can cover both directions of the 27 lane Dart-ford crossing motorway.
Monitoring Traffic
titanHz Chinese Camera's are being installed in more and more police traffic cars as well as specialist police vans and CCTV vans. The cameras fitted in these vehicles usually operate forwards and to the side of the vehicles and they can be portable, fixed, or even covert giving a great range of opportunities to the police force.
Parking Management
Private uses of the Chinese ANPR System (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) include parking management. Pay and display car parks can be difficult and costly to police and monitor regularly and routinely. However, by installing Chinese ANPR Cameras (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) at the entrance and exit it is possible to accurately locate every car that enters and exits, therefore determining how long they have spent within the car park.
Congestion Charging
Congestion charging is another viable use of the Chinese ANPR System (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) . Rather than having to employ numerous toll booths and operators, and then demand that every vehicle stop, using an Chinese ANRP System (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) would allow for each car to be checked in order to determine whether or not the driver has a valid parking license or permit. This means that thousands of vehicles can pass through the congestion charge area each hour.
Petrol Forecourts
Petrol station forecourts also operate Chinese ANPR Cameras (Automatic Number Plate Recognition). These are used to record details of non-paying customers, whether they are unable to pay or drive off without making payment. Cashiers can be warned as soon as a car drives up that is found to be on the Petrol Forecourt Database of Offenders. This not only includes petrol thieves but also customers that are flagged as previously unable to pay.
The Chinese ANPR system comprises of the following components:
1. Chinese ANPR Camera: A camera is required to capture an image of the vehicle license plate under changing environmental conditions both, day and night, with no operator supervision. A typical Chinese ANPR Camera (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) will have a fast shutter to reduce motion blur of vehicles travelling at high speeds. Traditional ANPR systems use CCTV style cameras. These cameras tend to use low resolution, interlaced sensors with an analog signal output. These type of cameras are not suitable for applications where the vehicle is travelling at high speed as the interlaced format will cause the image of the vehicle to be distorted. Many manufactures of Chinese ANPR Systems (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) tend to work around the shortcoming of interlaced cameras by working with either the odd or even field of the interlaced image. This has the unwanted side effect of reducing the effective vertical resolution in half which can affect the reading accuracy of the system. In comparison, many of the newer dedicated Chinese ANPR Camera Systems (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) use high resolution, progressive scan sensors with digital interface connectivity options. With a higher resolution sensor, it is possible to monitor more than a single lane at a time. Also progressive scan sensors are more suitable for applications where vehicles are travelling at speed.
 2. Light Source. A Chinese ANPR System (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) must operate 24 hours a day throughout the year. Strong sunlight and vehicle headlights at night, can saturate the camera sensor, creating bright spots on the image, making it difficult to view and read the license plate. To resolve this problem, modern Chinese ANPR Systems (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) use IR (infra red) lighting with optical filters to illuminate the plate and minimise the affects of ambient lighting. Many countries use retroreflective plates. IR illumination is reflected from the vehicle plate to improve contrast of the plate within the image.
Video Capture. Where analog cameras are used, the image must be digitised so that it can be processed by the PC. The purpose of the video capture card is to take the analog video output from the camera and convert it into a standard digital format for further processing. Video acquisition cards often have one or more video channels allowing capture from several cameras at once. Digital camera systems with IP connectivity do not require a separate video capture card as the image is digitised at the camera.
4. Computer. The purpose of the computer is to analyse the captured image and to read the license plate, if one is present in the image. This is the most complex part of the system and is the main component that distinguishes one manufacturer from another. Note: More recently, PC computer based license plate recognition systems are being superseded by intelligent, all-in-one type systems where the processor, camera and lighting are all combined into one compact unit. These systems typically use DSP and/or FPGA hardware with customized deterministic operating systems
